So…I threw myself a first birthday party. It’s only slightly a joke. I made it through 9 months (actually 10 months) of being pregnant, underwent 34 hours of labor (30 of those unmedicated), and kept a human alive for a full year. Brandon and I deserved a party! But I also wanted to celebrate Laszlo, who is kid full of joy and life and impatience and is so freaking smart and deserves the world! We love him so much.
The theme started out as “Chapter 1” and quickly evolved, or devolved, into a combination of Chapter 1 meets fairytale meets winter wonderland. Like my brain and my style, the party was eclectic. We had snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, more snowflakes made of book pages, woodland creatures on the invites, forestry in the balloon décor, books as party favors, and Laz’s name made of books as a centerpiece. Oh, and about 6 inches of snow on the ground.
I love a good party, and I wanted those who attended to really enjoy themselves! And I wanted the kids to have so much fun as well. There were months of planning, and way too much money (what budget?). We had a photobooth by Fun Frames Photobooth that acted as perfect entertainment and party favors, and bookmaking for the littles. And, when they grew board of that, they could put on Laszlo tattoos (sourced from Etsy), or play in the snow!
Since over 40 people attended, I knew I needed to have comfortable space outside for people to hang out since the house wasn’t going to fit everyone. Thankfully, I got the perfect boutique rentals from Wander Rental, and heaters from Cort Party Rental made it feel like being at a fun little ski lodge with the snow, hands cupped around hot mulled wine as people laughed and talked.
It took a village to make it happen! From the back and forth of planning, helped by Taylor of Bixby and Pine, to food being prepared by my nephews girlfriend, my sister, and my best friend’s finace, Teddy, and the set up happening between me, my bestfriend, and my niece—it was a lot! My niece hosted at her house, everyone pitched in, and I’m so grateful to everyone that we pulled it off!
I’d love to thank Taylor Ochoa from TM Inspired for the amazing photos you see below!
And Little Bubble Company for creating freaking TREES out of balloons and the most amazing arch to highlight Laszlo’s day.

I can’t wait to meet you.
A first look at my work, the work that lives rent-free in my memory. As a Washington wedding videographer and photographer, I love to showcase new photos and videos!
With a touch of all things personal, too.
